BBC Top Gear magazine has poached Charlie Turner – the designer behind the recent relaunch of Bernie Ecclestone’s Formula 1 Magazine – to be its new art director.
Turner, who quit Ecclestone’s magazine on Friday, is the first
big signing following the appointment of Top Gear’s new editor Michael Harvey.
Prior to F1 Magazine, he worked on Emap’s Car, for which he scooped an award at the 2002 Magazine Design Awards. Harvey said: “Charlie has a record of producing great looking magazines and I’m really looking forward to seeing him work his magic on Britain’s No1 motoring title.”
BBC Top Gear unveiled a redesign in October, so it is unclear if Turner has been drafted in to create a new look. He is due to join on 18 August.
