Three witnesses in Tommy Sheridan’s £200,000 libel trial against the News of the World have been charged with perjury, according to the Times.

Press Gazette revealed on Friday that former MSP Rosemary Byrne had been arrested in connection with the investigation.

Lothian and Borders Police has now confirmed that Graeme McIver and Jock Penman, two of Sheridan’s colleagues who also took the stand during the trial, have also been charged and released.
