Time Out: international ambition
Gordon Thomson, deputy editor of Observer Sport Monthly, has been appointed editor of Time Out.
Thomson, who beat off stiff competition from other candidates, said: “I want to maintain Time Out’s status as the best listings publication in the UK, but also make it more international in its ambition, bringing to the mix brilliant interviews, lively opinion and the best design.”
James Brown, who was involved in the selection process, said Thomson combined many of the journalistic attributes of the rival candidates but also had “youth, a hunger to prove himself and a raw ambition for the future of Time Out”.
Thomson takes over from acting editor Chris Hemblade, who took the helm when former editor Laura Lee Davies left in June after 18 years on the title.
