Ballroom dancer and Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has received an apology from The People newspaper over a story claiming he was at the centre of an “astonishing pay row”.
The Trinity Mirror-owned Sunday paper published a story on 12 October claiming Cole was left “fuming” after the BBC refused his demand for “a big rise” to appear on the entertainment show.
In an apology printed this weekend, the paper said: “We wish to clarify that Mr Cole was not in any ‘pay row’ with the BBC but a pay discussion. We regret any embarrassment to Mr Cole.”
