Telegraph buys luxury watch magazine and event business

By Press Gazette

Telegraph Media Group has QP magazine and Salon QP, a magazine and event which are both focused on luxury watches.

The move follows the launch off a new luxury channel for the Telegraph website.

Here is the announcement from TMG:

Telegraph Media Group (TMG), publisher of The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, The Telegraph and The Telegraph weekly world edition, is delighted to announce that it has acquired QP magazine and Salon QP as part of its expanding events portfolio.

Following the successful acquisition of VOS Media earlier this year, this purchase by TMG will incorporate both the luxury magazine and events which take place under the QP umbrella.

Not only does this move reflect TMG’s expanding events portfolio, but also TMG’s commitment to the luxury sector, following the launch of the Luxury Channel and bi-annual magazine last week.

The first event to take place under TMG’s ownership will be Salon QP’s Fine Watch Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery from the 7th to 9th November. The Telegraph has been the media partner for this prestigious luxury watch event for the past three years, which sees over 50 leading watch brands exhibiting from established brands such as Jaeger-LeCoultre and TAG Heuer to boutique independents such as Urwerk.

James Gurney, Editor of QP Magazine, and the rest of the Salon QP team will remain with the business.

Dave King, Executive Director, TMG, said:

“I am really pleased to be adding QP magazine and Salon QP to the Telegraph portfolio, particularly after working with them so extensively over the past few years. This development marks a natural expansion of our brand particularly after last week’s successful launch of Telegraph Luxury. Everyone at TMG is looking forward to working with James Gurney and his team much more closely, bringing greater value to our expanding Telegraph audience.”
