In celebration of the rise and rise of real-life magazines, Take A Break has been turned into a stage play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Featuring "deliciously warped stories torn from the pages of the nation's favourite magazines", Take A Break Tales: Love, Death and Puzzles, written by Time Out new comedy award-winner Danielle Ward, will be staged at the fringe festival from this week.
Editor of the real-life Bauer title, John Dale, who attended a preview of the show, said: "I loved it. It's very affectionate towards our readers and to ourselves.
I had only two quibbles. The first was the absence of a woman with a giant cyst mistakenly believed to be a five-year pregnancy. We have one of those every week.
"The second was no mention of our World Wedding Dress Day, which is now snowballing in the UK, China, Russia, Australia and elsewhere and will, I believe, raise millions of pounds for good causes."
Take A Break Tales: Love, Death and Puzzles, is showing at the Pleasance Theatre, Edinburgh, until 28 August For details, visit www.edfringe.com
