The Sun has promoted news editor Chris Pharo to the new post of assistant editor (news).
Pharo’s appointment will see Steve Kennedy become news editor of The Sun.
Kennedy has worked on The Sun’s newsdesk for five years having previously been a reporter on the paper, which he joined in 2003.
Before joining The Sun, Kennedy worked at the Doncaster Free Press and as chief reporter at the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.
Pharo’s promotion comes after more than 18 years on the paper. He has worked as The Sun’s news editor for the past seven years.
He joined the Sun in 1992 after working for the Bracknell News and for the Cassidy and Leigh agency. He has previously also held the posts of industry editor, South West district reporter and night news editor for the News International redtop.
