Suchet to stay as Five News anchor

By Press Gazette

John Suchet has been confirmed as a permanent anchor for Five News's main bulletins.

Suchet was initially recruited by Five to cover for Kirsty Young while she was away on maternity leave, but the new offer will see him co-present the news at 5.30pm and 7pm alongside the Scottish journalist.

Five's evening updates will be read by a third journalist, which the channel is yet to name.

Suchet began his career as a Reuters graduate trainee in 1967, and went on to spend 10 years as a globe-trotting "fireman" covering some of the world's biggest news stories.
