Scottish independence coverage helps STV boost web traffic

By Paul McNally

Scottish broadcaster STV has reported a 43 percent annual rise in traffic to its online news coverage in the run-up to the referendum on Scottish independence.
Announcing its 2013 results this morning, the company said half of the total page views to www.stv.tv were for the news section and monthly visitors for news had reached 1.6m per month.
STV said it had "secured the position as the leading media provider for coverage of the Scottish independence referendum campaign".
It added: "This commitment will continue during 2014 with an extensive range of programmes, features and coverage delivered through STV News, Scotland Tonight, and online coverage."
