The NUJ's centenary is to be marked at Salford University's Harold Riley Suite on 18 November.
The event is to commemorate an historic meeting of journalists in 1906 in Manchester that paved the way for the founding of the union the following year in Birmingham.
NUJ members and guests will be welcome at the event where there will be food, drink and speeches.
Journalists gathered in Leeds last month to celebrate a similar meeting in the city which also laid the foundations of the union's formation.
