The editor of Emap bike title Ride is leaving to become deputy editor of sister paper Motor Cycle News (MCN).
Peter Baker will share the post with MCN’s editorial production director, Sean Warwick, who has also moved up to deputy editor. Baker will oversee the editorial creation, while Warwick will concentrate on the production side.
Commenting on the move, Baker said: “MCN is a much bigger title and because it’s a weekly, there is more possibility to do bigger, more exciting stuff.”
MCN was the first title Baker worked on when he joined Emap 12 years ago. He started off as a designer on MCN before moving across to Performance Bikes and Classic Bike. He was also a designer on the launch team of Ride in 1995, before returning in 2000 as editor.
Warwick is another long-serving member of staff, having joined MCN 15 years ago and worked on and off for the title ever since. He took over as editor for a brief period in 1994/95 before working across other titles in Emap Automotive and launching MCN’s website.
The changes follow the appointment in August of Marc Potter as editor of MCN.
Potter said it was “stage one”. The team is currently working on an eightpage consumer section featuring insider info from the trade, the best products and buying and selling advice. It is likely to emerge next spring.
