Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

Rajar: Ferrari races ahead for LBC

By Rachael Gallagher

London talk station LBC is celebrating its highest audience figures since March 2006, up a mammoth 33.8 per cent year on year.

The station, fronted by breakfast presenter Nick Ferrari, has increased its weekly reach from 476,000 Londoners to 637,000 year on year.

Ferrari’s breakfast show has put on 56,000 listeners in the past 12 months and is now heard by 407,000 people each week.

Meanwhile, LBC’s sister station on medium wave, LBC News 1152, has seen a slump in listening this quarter but is still up year on year.

The rolling news station’s audience now stands at 275,000 – up 48.6 per cent from 185,000 in the same period last year. It has, however, lost 52,000 listeners since the last quarter.

LBC News 1152 is rebranding as Sky News Radio early next year in a joint venture between owners Global Radio and BSkyB.

The relaunch comes in the run-up to the launch of a digital-only rolling news station from Sky next summer.
