A title promoting magazine subscriptions is preparing to launch.
Pulp Fact! is hoping to strengthen the entire magazine market and is based on research which shows that once a consumer or trade buyer takes out a subscription, the magazine can expect the subscription to last for several years.
The first issue will launch on 29 June, when it will be distributed with The Observer. A further 46,000 copies will be distributed free to known multiple-subscription purchasers in the UK. The frequency will depend on the launch, but the aim is to publish four times a year with The Observer.
The magazine will be complemented by the launch of a website which also aims to promote the range of UK magazines available for subscription, allowing readers to browse through the titles on offer.
According to market research firm Mintel, despite a steady growth in the number of subscriptions, they continue to form only a small percentage of publishers’ total magazine sales.
The first 450 titles to register with Pulp Fact! will be offered a free quarter-page entry in it.
Pulp Fact! managing director Robert May said: “Pulp Fact! offers an opportunity to every single publisher in the land to promote their publications, whether they produce one title each quarter or 100 titles a month.”
