Press Gazette events

By Dominic Ponsford1

Press Gazette has over the last year organised receptions for the top-50 journalists in various fields: politics, comment, sport and travel so far.

The most recent was the top-50 travel journalists, sponsored by Royal Caribbean International.

For enquiries about sponsoring one of these lists with a presence in the magazine, online and at the evening reception – contact head of event sales Chris Wilson on 0207 936 6876.

We are compiling forthcoming top 50 lists for journalists specialising in: showbiz, personal finance, transport and motoring, science and technology, food and drink and the environment.

Awards

Wilmington Media retained the rights to Press Gazette’s various awards events when it sold the magazine and website to Progressive Media in April 2009.

These were: the British Press Awards, Regional Press Awards, Magazine Design and Journalism Awards, Environmental Press Awards and the Student Journalism Awards.

Only the British Press Awards continued and it was run by Wilmington last year. Next year a new event, The Press Awards, is being organised by the Society of Editors. A new website for that event: www.pressawards.org.uk is expected to be launched shortly.
