Picture editors choose the best from a field of 8,300 images

The shortlist for the twelfth annual Picture Editors’ Awards has been announced.

The
judging panel of 30 picture editors met at the Guildhall in London to
review more than 8,300 images submitted by 680 photographers.

All
newspaper picture editors are now invited to ballot on the ultimate
winners before 11 April via the website, www.pictureawards.net. The
awards will be presented at the Guildhall on 23 May. Entries are still
being accepted for the Getty Images Newspaper of the Year categories
and the BG Group Student Award. The nominations are:
