A boardroom reshuffle at The Catholic Herald was announced this week following the retirement of editor William Oddie.
Despite Lord Black’s difficulties with Hollinger International, he remains joint owner of the Herald with hotelier Sir Rocco Forte.
Luke Coppen, left, is taking over as acting editor and Christina Farrell has been promoted to features editor.
In other changes at the title, literary editor Dr Damian Thompson has joined the board and become editor-in-chief. Peter Sheppard has taken over from Forte as chairman, but both Black and Forte remain board members.
Sheppard said: “Oddie was a great editor and a very significant figure. He was a powerful character and a doughty defender of Catholicism in a non-believing age.”
