Now you can read as well as drink at Slug and Lettuce

The Slug and Lettuce bar chain is to launch a magazine for its customers this autumn.

Sluglife will be published bimonthly and distributed to the chain’s 54 UK outlets. It is produced by contract publisher Manic House Publishing, which is believed to have beaten John Brown Citrus Publishing with its pitch.

Slug and Lettuce brand manager Paul Filler said their creative ideas were “precisely on message”.

The title will launch with a print run of 50,000 and coinciding with the launch the company has set up the website slug-life.com.

Sluglife managing editor Nick McGrath said the magazine would have an “irreverent mix” of tongue-in-cheek celebrity interviews, entertainment features, fashion, fantasy travel and food and drink coverage.

“We are hoping it will actually make being stood up at the bar a rewarding experience,” he added.

It is the second launch for Manic House Publishing, following the launch of A5-glossy Islington magazine this spring, a sister title to Docklands Magazine.
