The
Hornsey and Crouch End Journal organised an open air concert for more
than 100 people which raised £2000 for Capital FM’s Help a London Child
appeal.
Around 80 singers from the Crouch End Festival Chorus
provided most of the day’s entertainment along with some songs from the
renowned band Travis.
The event was the brain child of assistant
editor and news editor Alison Campsie after Archant London managing
director Enzo Testa challenged journalists on the titles to jointly
raise £100,000 for vulnerable and needy children living in the capital.
A special programme was launched commemorating the concert and sold to Journal readers.
Campsie
said: “Everyone involved in setting up the event was really positive
and enthusiastic and I’m sure next year’s event should be even better.”
The Hornsey and Crouch End Journal worked with Haringey Council and the
Hornsey Town Hall Community Partnership Board to stage the event.
Tony
Allcock, editor of the Journal, added: “The warmth of this event was a
glorious testament to the amazing community spirit we have here in
Crouch End.”
