Caithness Courier and John O’Groats Journal reporter Noel Donaldson was awarded a lifetime achievement award in journalism at the Highlands and Islands Press ball.
The veteran Wick-based reporter was presented his award from the Scottish National Party MSP for Banff and Buchan, Stewart Stevenson.
Stevenson stood in for Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, who was prevented from attending the event by bad weather.
Donaldson, a former journalist of the year for the Highlands and Islands, began his career at his father’s freelance agency Hot News, which he took over in 1967.
He later worked for The Orcadian, the Banffshire Advertiser, Ellon Times, Largs and Millport Weekly News and the Greenock Evening Telegraph.
CORRECTION: Last week, the print edition of Press Gazette wrongly published a picture of SNP Stewart Stevenson alongside a story about Caithness Courier and John O’Groat Journal reporter Noel Donaldson, who was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Highlands and Islands Press Ball.
Stevenson was handing the award to the veteran reporter (pictured right) who we mistakenly cropped out.
