No news is good news?

By Axegrinder axeblog

No News Today

On Good Friday 1930, listeners who tuned into the radio news bulletin on the BBC Home Service were informed: “There is no news.”

Fast forward 77 years, and it seems in today’s web-first 24/7 environment, there’s still occasionally not enough news to go round.

Here’s radio industry news website RadioToday.co.uk last Thursday, with a flash box proclaiming: “There isn’t any news right now.”

Axegrinder has a mental image of journalists sipping tea and eating biscuits in this rare gap in the news waiting for something to happen.
