NME redesign tuning into readers

By Rachael Gallagher

After extensive reader research IPC’s music weekly NME has unveiled a raft of changes to the magazine that will allow more reader interaction.

New features in the magazine include a weekly planner and a “your photos” section to go along side the letters page. A new “stuff we love” section will feature fashion, gadgets and band merchandise.

Editor Conor McNicholas said: ‘Our readers are the magazine so when its time to innovate we allow them to lead the process. Things move incredibly quickly in the world of music now but that makes it a great time for music and a great time for NME.’

Readers will also get an insight into what it is like to work at NME with “Behind NME Lines” – which will introduce them to the characters that put the magazine together, including those on work experience.

The news section has had a revamp, offering more analysis, comment and opinion on the week’s events, and the magazine will be littered with pointers to competitions and content on the NME.com website.
