News International is taking legal action at the High Court against a website named after defunct Sunday tabloid the News of the World.
The action has been launched against News of the World Online and the Italian lawyer Giovanni Di Stefano.
Companies House records show that a company called News of the World Online Ltd, with an address in Marshside, Canterbury, was incorporated on July 20 last year – less than two weeks after the paper was shut down – and list Di Stefano as a director.
News International closed down the paper last year following revelations that the NoW hacked into the voicemails of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler.
Di Stefano has previously acted for Saddam Hussein and Slobodan Milosevic.
Following its closure the official News of the World website now carries the message ‘Thank you and goodbye: The world’s greatest newspaper 1843-2011″
