A new national sports tabloid has been proposed which could provide jobs for 100 journalists.
Former Telegraph Group chief executive Jeremy
Deedes is said to be in charge of The Sportsman which will be aimed at
readers who bet on sporting events.

Methven is a former father of the NUJ chapel at
Telegraph Group and was among 90 journalists to leave the paper with a
redundancy pay-off earlier this year.

Deedes stepped down as chief executive of Telegraph Group in October but remains on the board as executive vice-chairman.
