ITV has announced that Cristina Nicolotti Squires will be the new editor of its Lunchtime News from June, taking over from Nick Rabin who left last year.
Nicolotti Squires joined ITN in September 1994 as deputy news editor. As well as working on the home news desk, she was field news editor around the world on most of the big stories over the past 10 years — from Belfast to 9/11, the Turkish earthquake, the Montserrat volcano, Balkan wars and the Mozambique floods. In 2003, she became head of home news, overseeing stories including the Soham murders and the 7/7 terror attacks.
