The National Council for the Training of Journalists is looking for “the Stars of the Future” through a competition in partnership with more than 70 regional newspapers, as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations.
The competition starts on 18 April, and is open to anyone between 16 and 18. Participants will submit an original and unpublished 200-word story about events or issues in their local communities, schools or families to regional newspapers for judging.
The winner will have their story published in their regional newspaper, alongside a feature about themselves.
An overall winner, selected by the NCTJ board, will be awarded a cash prize, a week of work experience and some valuable journalism career advice. The NCTJ said it would publish a feature about the winner on their website and in a regional newspaper.
