National press web figures: big dip for Standard

By Press Gazette

The Evening Standard website suffered the biggest drop in monthly and daily unique browsers, according to official figures released by ABC today.

The number of monthly unique browsers, 2,838,170, was down 19.5 per cent year on year and -21.8 per cent month on month, while the number of daily browsers, 120,525, was down 22.2 per cent year on year and 25 per cent month on month.

The drop is likely to be linked to the fact that its website was relaunched in March – similar falls have been seen by other websites when they relaunch including Mirror Online earleir this year.

Mail Online once again saw a big rise in monthly browsers in year-on-year terms (up 37.6 per cent) but its figures were down 0.4 per cent month on month.

Metro, another Associated Newspapers title, saw a strong performance in March with its monthly figures up 27 per cent year on year and 10.4 per cent month on month.

The Independent's website, which underwent a redesign earlier this year, had the best month on month figures for monthly browsers, up 13.3 per cent to 14,528,315

Looking at the daily figures Mail Online once again saw the best year on year improvement, up almost 47.9 per cent to 5,414,336, while the Metro was up 28.3 per cent to 327,788
