Mirror pays damages out to party organiser

By Press Gazette

By Roger Pearson

Celebrity
party organiser Fran Cutler has accepted a public apology and libel
damages over Daily Mirror claims that, among other things, she had
fallen out with celebrities Kate Moss and Sadie Frost.

Her solicitor, Kevin Thorpe, told Mr Justice Tugendhat that the
paper ran three articles about Cutler in July, August and September
last year in its celebrity gossip column “3am”.

He said they
suggested that she had leaked, agreed to leak or was prepared to sell
stories about her best friends for publication.

They claimed that
when her friends found out, she had been so ashamed she had fled to
Spain and that, because of her actions, she was no longer on friendly
terms with certain celebrities.

The articles also alleged that she was no longer organising celebrity parties.

He
said the paper apologised and unreservedly withdrew what had been said.
In addition to damages it would also be paying Cutler’s legal costs.
