Metro fastest growing UK newspaper website in April: Full ABC online round-up

By Dominic Ponsford

Metro was again the UK’s fastest growing newspaper website in April with average daily traffic up 155 per cent year on year to 1,036,570 daily browsers according to ABC.

The site had a “mobile first” relaunch and redesign in November 2012 and is set to be merged with sister title Mail Online.

The Mail website reported traffic down month on month, but up 39.3 per cent compared with April 2013 to 10.9m average global daily browsers.

The free Mirror website continues to swell its readership compared with the paywalled Sun and it was the only national newspaper website to grow month on month and year on year.

Note: ABC measures 'unique browsers', so different devices accessing websites – rather than different people.
