An NUJ member expelled after being accused of being abusive at a branch meeting has been reinstated.
Bill McLean admitted being drunk at a meeting of the West of Scotland Freelance Branch. Former deputy general secretary of the union, Jake Ecclestone, represented McLean at an appeals tribunal. He argued the National Executive Council of the NUJ could not expel McLean because it had failed to reach a decision within six months of the original complaint.
