BBC director general Mark Thompson has given a reading at the funeral of former Sky News presenter Bob Friend, who died earlier this month after suffering from a brain tumour. He was 70.
Before helping to launch Sky News, Friend worked for the BBC in a career that spanned two decades there.
Speaking outside St Peter’s Church in Hammersmith, Thompson said: “He was an amazing man to work with, a great correspondent and journalist. The giggle was never far away.”
Others attending the service included Sky News presenters Kay Burley and Anna Botting.
