Mag ABCs: Glamour stays top as More plummets

By Andrew Pugh

Glamour remains the best-selling paid-for women's monthly title in the UK – despite sales dropping 11.3 per cent in the first six months of the year to 470,138.

Other titles that suffered a big drop in circulation in include Hearst Magazine's Company (down 20.5 per cent to 143,269) and Evam's Look! (down 17.7 per cent to 250,071, but the worst-performing title was Bauer's More, which fell 37.6 per cent to 106.065.

Free title John Lewis Edition title remains the highest-circulation in the sector, While Marie Claire (up 1.7 per cent) and Easy Living (up 3.8 per cent)) were among the best selling.

Despite the fall in sales, Hearst said 2012 'has been the biggest year for Company since launch – not just a re-design but a total re-invention of the brand".

A spokesperson said: 'Company allowed the content to speak for itself and reduced marketing promotion in the first half of 2012. Through the magazine and website, Company is reaching a new audience of young fashion influencers – 97 per cent of readers who tried it for the first time in May have said they will buy it again.'
