Former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie will be the star guest at the first West Midlands Media Awards, to be held next month.
MacKenzie, whose Wireless Group is one of the bidders for a speech-based station in the West Midlands, is lined up to do a double act with the event’s host, Carlton presenter Bob Warman
MacKenzie, who once worked at the Birmingham Post and Mail’s Bromsgrove office, said: “As well as working in Bromsgrove, I was a sub-editor at Birmingham and I had a stunning time and look upon it as an area where I am among friends.”
The awards, launched by the Birmingham Press Club, will be held at the city’s Burlington Hotel on 20 March.
