Lord Hunt to deliver Society of Editors lecture

By Press Gazette

Press Complaints Commission chairman Lord Hunt is to deliver the opening lecture at this year's Society of Editors conference in Belfast on 11 November.

Former cabinet minister Hunt deliver his address following the expected publication of the Leveson report in October.

The conference is being held at the Europa Hotel, where many journalists stayed during coverage of the Troubles. The annual gala dinner this year will be held at Harland and Wolff shipyard.

Society of Editors President Fran Unsworth, head of newsgathering at the BBC, said: “Lord Hunt has already made a major contribution to the debate about press regulation and the need for a system that enhances rather than diminishes the freedom and integrity of the press. We are sure his lecture will point to further steps forward.”
