9.10 Meeting with Liz Edwards, art director/associate editor, to discuss layout for the new-look Brides.
10.30 First editorial meeting with the whole team. Work through running order/schedule in deadlines.
1pm Lunch at Sartoria restaurant with travel PR Jo Vickers and Mr and Mrs Gardner of Begawan Resort, Bali. Very interesting discussions re future travel pieces – travel journalism is an important section in Brides.
3.00 Meeting with one of our Real Life Brides, photographer Theadore Woods.
3.30 Informal meeting with Simon Leadsford, Brides publisher, to discuss the London Wedding Fair (a Brides event at the Landmark Hotel).
4.30 Time with Astrid, my fab personal assistant, to plough through my in-tray and various e-mails.
5.00 Meeting with Jane Lewis, ad director, and Camilla Goldhill, senior fashion manager, to discuss the flatplan. Take Evening Standard along with hot-off-the-press magazines to devour on train.
7.45 Bad journey! Home to babes and 90-minute interview with a prospective nanny.

7.50am Train, papers, coffee, lists.
9.00 More coffee. Chat with art director re photographers.
9.30 Out with advertising team to meet prospective clients.
11.20 Meeting with Vikki Berg, our newly wed health and beauty editor, to discuss the magazine’s health and beauty content.
12.00 Sift through Real Life Brides letters with Astrid and Liz.
12.30pm Look through interior photographers’ portfolios with Lucinda Maydon, style editor.
1.00 Working lunch with Liz to decide which Real Life Brides will be placed in the May/June “new-look” issue.
3.00 Meeting with Emily Bolitho, executive retail editor, Catriona Howatson, assistant editor, plus art director re Diary pages, content and layout for May/June.
4.00 Appointment with Susannah Amoore, personnel director, to discuss staff issues.
5.30 Run through my in-tray and e-mails with Astrid.
6.00 Grab newspaper. Leave Vogue Towers to interview yet another nanny.

7.50am Train, coffee, papers and more lists.
8.30 Hair coiffed at John Frieda for Press Gazette photo (must look my best!).
9.30 Meeting with Catriona to discuss future reader events.
11.00 Meeting with Real Life Bride photographer Jeremy Enness. 12.00 Cancelled yoga due to heavy snow and high heels! New Year’s resolution already broken. Settle for fresh soup from Fluid at my desk while reading copy.
3.30pm Philip Wade, Press Gazette photographer – smile, please!
4.00 Coffee with fashion photographer Tony McGee.
6.00 In-tray and e-mails with Astrid before train home to kiss babes goodnight.

7.50am Train, coffee, papers, lists.
9.30 Coffee with possible contributor … (could tell you but I’d have to shoot you!).
11.30 Meeting with Simon Leadsford to discuss Harrogate fair.
12.00 Meeting with Nicholas Coleridge, managing director, and Pam Raynor, financial director, to discuss confidential matters… (9.30 rule applies!). The suits still seem friendly, which is a good sign!
12.30pm Cancel Pilates class at Third Space gym as meeting has overrun. Yet another soup at my desk while signing off invoices. Oh what joy!
1.30 Spend three hours editing two fashion stories with Liz Edwards. We discuss layouts and titles.
4.30 Look at beauty photographers’ books with Vikki Berg and chat more about health and beauty content.
5.00 Discuss interior story with Kate and look at relevant photographers’ portfolios.
6.00 L’Oreal New Year party, La Fete des Rois at the Wallace Collection in the West End.
9.30 Home to hubby.

10.01.03
7.50am Train, coffee, papers, lists.
9.00 Trip to M&S for a quick food shop. Meeting with Simon for future supplements.
10.30 Rifle through in-tray and e-mails.
1.00pm Lunch with Jonathan Newhouse, the “big cheese”, at Providores, Marylebone High Street. Fascinating conversation – say no more!
3.00 Budget meeting with Pam Raynor and Harriet Wilson.
5.30 Leave on time for Friday night ritual with the kiddiewinks – tea, bath and lots of books (in reality, tears, tantrums and a Monsters Inc video).
