The Liverpool Daily Post has launched what it believes is “the first business website” by a British regional newspaper.
The free site, www.thebusinessweek.co.uk ,
will break news, carry podcasts and live updates on the FTSE 100 index
along with further business content. There is also a live video debate
about issues affecting local business as well as a B2B directory and
archive.
Daily Post publisher Trinity Mirror’s a £1.5 million Transformation Project for the north west and north Wales will help fund the launch.
Daily Post Editor
Jane Wolstenholme said: "Businessweek, our weekly in-paper supplement,
is already firmly established as an indispensable read for the region's
business community. Offering it to them in this format – with so many
extra features – is something we believe there is a huge appetite for."
The
paper’s business team has won several awards including both business
editor Bill Gleeson and deputy business editor Tony McDonough who have
both been named Press Gazette's Business and Financial Journalist of the Year in recent years
The launch of the website, which goes live today, is part of Trinity’s plan to develop its digital portfolio.
