Broadcasting unions have rejected ITV’s offer of a 2.5 per cent pay rise.
The
NUJ, BECTU and Amicus submitted a claim for a pay rise “significantly
above inflation” to ITV in late summer. The company’s tabled a round of
local meetings in late November during which a 2.5 per cent offer was
made plus a separate offer relating to a bonus and shares which can be
converted into cash up to the value of £600.
The unions rejected
the offer and sought an improved rise. If an improved offer is not made
the unions say they are prepared for a campaign up to and including
strike action. According to the union’s agreement with ITV there is
provision for a further meeting, which is likely before Christmas.
