ITV news chief Michael Jermey adds sport to role

ITV has confirmed this afternoon that Michael Jermey’s role has been expanded to include responsibility for sport.

Currently director of news and current affairs, Jermey will become director of news, current affairs, and sport.

He will appoint and manage a new controller of sport, who will be responsible for commissioning and production, and will work alongside Jonathan Rogers, who retains responsibility for ITV’s sports rights strategy as commercial director, ITV channels.

Jermey will continue to report to Peter Fincham, ITV director of television, channels and online.

Jermey was previously director of ITV regions, and led the restructuring of ITV’s regional broadcasting. He joined ITV in 2004, after a long career as an ITN executive.
