Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

ITN news to become available free on iTunes

By Press Gazette

ITN’s latest news will soon be available to download onto iPods and other portable video players.

ITN has struck a deal with Apple that will make its mobile news and entertainment content available for free via the music and video downloading service. ITN’s programming will be funded by a short pre-roll advertisement provided by Ad Infuse.

Viewers will be able to keep up-to-date with UK, world, showbiz, business and sport news, and will also be able to download other ITN products such as Movie Buff and its weekly sports news bulliten Sports Fix.

Nicholas Wheeler, managing director of ITN’s multimedia division, ITN On, said: ‘As a leading producer of high quality video content for online and mobile platforms, ITN On see Ad infuse as a key partner for making our news, entertainment and sport content available to end users on mobile devices. For us at ITN this partnership will engage more users with our content and extend our brand’s reputation as a provider of high quality video journalism on new media platforms.”

Stephen Upstone, Ad Infuse managing director of European business development, said: ‘The partnership between ITN On and Ad Infuse means free and inexpensive news for consumers and a great new advertising opportunity for brands and advertising agencies. The mobile market is shifting, and ITN has always been on the cutting edge of new trends with new and innovative ways to bring content to consumers.”

ITN On recently launched a dedicated entertainment and sports channel on YouTube. The ad-funded channel focuses on entertainment plus sports, film and Bollywood programmes made specifically for the web.
