Hull title wins daily accolade

By Press Gazette

The Hull Daily Mail won a hat-trick of accolades at this year's Yorkshire Press Awards including Yorkshire daily newspaper of the year. It was the third time the paper picked up the top daily award in four years.

The Mail picked up front page of the year for its splash of a woman injured in the July 7 bombings in London, and the paper's Rick Lyon picked up news reporter of the year for the third time.

The Dewsbury Press was named Yorkshire weekly of the year, while the Yorkshire Post's Tom Richmond was named Yorkshire journalist of the year.

The Press in York won the campaign category for its Law's an Ass initiative to get child abductors placed on the sex offenders' register. The Wakefield Express won breaking news story for its coverage of the Alverthorpe murders and the paper's John Clifton was named best weekly news reporter.
