Axegrinder is sad to hear that there have been more sackings at the Daily Telegraph.
Among the latest victims is Kelly Scott, who had been on the paper for 28 years, serving a dozen or more news editors on the newsdesk.
Also shown the door is another long-serving news manager, Richard Stickland, affectionately known as “Stickers”. He had been with the paper for almost 20 years.
So much for loyalty, I say.
Both worked very conscientiously and were particularly helpful to new reporters joining the ship. Axegrinder hopes they will soon find jobs for their talents elsewhere.
Readers will also be sad to hear that education correspondent Liz Lightfoot has been sacked, as has Caroline Davies, the royals reporter who covered her beat with dedication and flair, and who was regarded as one of the finest in Fleet Street ‒ if you can still call it that.
