Original modern homes from around the world, including houses owned by designers and taste-makers. Features on style, from trend and opinion pieces to round-ups of design talent. News, including hot new products, places, people and trends (from hotels, bars and shops, to art shows and happening design names).
How to pitch
Email a brief synopsis of your ideas, attaching low-res jpegs of key visuals if relevant. Houses must be UK exclusives, and if we buy in words, we’ll brief you on the angle we want. With feature pitches, sum up your ideas snappily and tell us who you work for; for news, always include launch dates and details of designers and interiors involved; and for styled stories, email a snappy, one to two-line sell summing up your concept, plus a link to your website.

What will impress
Fresh, exciting ideas and informed knowledge of the magazine and its market. We generate most of our content in-house, so freelance submissions need to be special.
What won’t impress
Huge high-res jpegs that clog up email – or no visuals when they’re needed to judge a pitch. Old stories or spin-offs from obvious press releases. Ideas that aren’t exclusive, or are totally wrong for ELLE Decoration.
Varies depending on the nature of the story.
For houses we’ll consider pitches with either recce shots or finished shoots. For other stories, select images which help sell an idea, but we’ll handle final visuals.
