News Iinternational chairman Les Hinton has “topped
out” the new journalists’ charity care home – an appropriate choice since NIi
topped the list of newspaper group donors to the re-build fund.
The company
made a “seriously significant donation” (unspecified by NI request), said
charity council chairman Nicholas Jones, which encouraged other groups to give
too.
Hinton, in hard hat climbed to the rooftop of the £3 million Dorking home
to lay a Welsh slate. Formerly called Sandy Cross, the new building will be
ready for occupation by 22 elderly journalists or their dependents by spring
2007.
