ITV News social affairs correspondent Helen Wright has left the broadcaster – one of the highest profile redundancies since job cuts were announced in April this year.
The changes came after ITN announced a £15m technological upgrade of its news operations after it sealed a new six-year contract for ITV News.
The investment resulted in changes that meant 64 job cuts, reducing the workforce by 7.5 per cent. A spokeswoman said that process was near completion and that no compulsory redundancies had been made.
Wright joined ITN in 1996, working as both a health and education correspondent for ITV News programmes, presented network news bulletins and made regular appearances on ITV’s current affairs programme Tonight with Trevor McDonald
