Hello! deputy Kelly may follow Trkulja out of the door

By Press Gazette

Hello! deputy editor Fergus Kelly is on the brink of resigning – after just six months in the post.

He is said to be considering his position following the resignation last week of editor Maria Trkulja, who quit after Hello! proprietor Eduardo Sanchez Junco said he wanted greater editorial control.

Kelly declined to comment this week but sources said there was a “strong degree of sympathy” in the office for Trkulja.

“Fergus was Maria’s appointment and he feels that now that she’s going, his position has changed and he wants to go, too. His allegiance is to her,” a source said.

Hello! poached Kelly from celebrity weekly Now six months ago. He previously worked on Here!, The Sunday Times and Today. A source said Kelly had not spoken to Sanchez but that he had discussed his situation with Hello! publisher Sally Cartwright.
