Tindle Radio’s Guernsey-based 104.7 Island FM station has raised £170,000 to aid refugees caught up in conflict in the Sudan.
The station launched its appeal in August, inviting listeners to donate their final hour’s pay from the final Friday of that month.
More than 15,000 listeners – representing more than half the island’s working population – pledged their support.
The appeal was the brainchild of an Island FM listener who contacted the radio station with the idea.
All of the money raised has been paid directly to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
