Matt Wells is leaving the job of Guardian media editor to become head of audio at Guardian Unlimited website.
The Guardian has also announced the appointment of former Press Association head of multimedia Robert Freeman to the job of head of video.
Freeman will head up a team working on the development of a new online video service – to be launched at the end of the summer.
Wells was appointed media editor in 2005 and currently presents the Guardian’s weekly media podcast, Media Talk.
