Granada denies ITN is to buy LNN

By Press Gazette

Granada has rebuffed suggestions that London News Network, the regional news operation it co-owns with Carlton, is about to be sold to ITN.

A Granada spokeswoman would only say that the broadcaster was currently “reviewing how these services are provided, but no firm decisions have been made”.

She added: “There are no plans to sell LNN to ITN. Our review of how these services are provided is no different to how we review all parts of our programming spend in all genres and is an ongoing process.”

Granada would not elaborate on the review.

ITN also said there “was not anything of that nature” taking place. A source said: “There are conversations going on between us and ITV about how we develop further our relationship based on what we do with the news channel – and to develop regional relationships – but that’s certainly not like a purchase of LNN.”
