The NUJ has said that industrial action at Newsquest Glasgow has been ‘suspended indefinitely’after constructive talks with management today.
The last walk-out at the Herald titles and the Evening Times was stopped after half an hour on Friday after management agreed to come to the negotiating table.
NUJ Scotland organiser Paul Holleran said: ‘The talks were very positive and we are now planning closer cooperation over the planning of the new editorial production system dealing with things like training and redeployment.”
He said that the issue of the single member of staff facing compulsory redundancy has been ‘parked”, pending further talks, and the person concerned has been put back on a salary.
Newsquest is proposing to make annual cost savings of £3 million a year at its Glasgow titles with the loss of 90 jobs.
