Generator keeps the PA powering along

By Axegrinder axeblog

Spare a thought for those who toil such long hours at the Press Association in Victoria. Apparently, the whole power system shut down the other day and everything had to be run off a generator.

My mole at the PA tells me: “There were contingency plans to decamp a dozen reporters to some sort of emergency bunker in Wapping ‒ officially called the disaster recovery centre ‒ but I don’t think it got that bad.”

But Axegrinder does wonder though ‒ if the PA wire system should shut down for a day or two ‒ would our national newspapers survive, and what about papers such as Metro or London Lite?
