Not only did an underrated England side knock them out of the Rugby World Cup in front of a home crowd on Saturday, but the Fleet Street Press Golfing Society beat the French press to retain the Wryter Cup for a fifth consecutive year.
Team captain and News of the World lawyer Tom Crone said: “We had two terrific days locking horns with the French press on the Isle of Man’s premier course. After the early results it looked like the French would run away with it, but the spirit of Agincourt came through as we fought our way to a 16-16 tied match to retain the cup.â€
